Marketing for Schools - Approvals

Below we have tried to answer some of the most asked questions in relation to school prospectus production.

This is not intended to be an exhaustive list.
Please do call us if you would like further details on any aspect of our services.

How long does a school prospectus take to produce?

The whole process, from the taking of photographs, to the delivery of the finished article can take as long or as little time as you need or have. As we have our own design, printing and finishing facilities we can be extremely flexible and responsive to your timescales.
However, as a guide and taking a notional delivery date as 1st September here is a guide to what you should think about doing when:

January –  select prospectus company based on market experience, quality and added value elements such as marketing advice etc.

February – planning meeting with your marketing consultant to set deadlines and dates for copy, photography, proofing and delivery.

March – write copy and plan photography with guidance from your marketing consultant.

April/May – photography day – when trees are in leaf and a better chance of a sunny day. Also deadline day for copy.

May/June – proofing to take place. First proof normally supplied within 10 working days of receipt of the copy.

July – approval of final proof to take place before school breaks up for summer holidays.

Delivery of new school prospectus no later than 1st September.

Can I supply my own images?

We would always recommend you use a professional photographer for the main shots in a school prospectus. However, we appreciate that such a person is not around for school trips, concerts, productions and proms! In these cases we will advise you on the quality of any images you may wish to supply and include.

How do I supply the copy for the prospectus?

At Marketing for Education we believe the best people to write a school prospectus is the school themselves. The author needs to have a good insight into the school’s ethos, mission, character and goals. We assist the school in how much to write and also how to structure the copy e.g. succinct, theme led etc. The finished file can then be supplied either on disk or via email.

My school has awards and affiliations. Can I include the logos?

Yes. As we hold most of the major/national award and affiliation logos on our studio files and we can normally source any additional ones on your behalf.

How many should I order?

The answer to this depends on your school and how you intend to use the prospectuses. We can help you with your strategy before you confirm your final quantity so you do not under or over order.

How do I plan my photography?

Your marketing consultant will assist you with this – providing you with sample schedules and all the advice and tips you need to make sure the day is a success.

How much does a prospectus cost to produce?

This depends on the quantity and specification you require. It’s always best to call us and have a chat about your requirements so we can give you an accurate quotation.
